Kostas has more than 20 years of experience in academia and professional executive employee training levels in several countries around the world, including USA, UK, Greece, Romania and Ukraine. He has also an extensive research experience in academic and applied consultancy projects in the areas of sport sponsorship (planning and evaluation), event management (tourism, economic and social impact evaluation), service quality and customer satisfaction (testing applied models), marketing research (design and analysis), and professional employee training.
Kostas served as a faculty member at the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism at the University of Illinois, USA. He is currently a Professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, an Adjunct Faculty Member at Sheffield Hallam University, UK and a faculty member at the Open University, Greece. He has published more than 70 research papers in international journals in the areas of sport, leisure and tourism management and marketing. His published work has received more than 6000 internationals citations so far. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Leisure Research and Managing Sport and Leisure, and sits at the Editorial Boards of Sport Management Review, Sport Marketing Quarterly, Managing Service Quality, and International Journal of Sport Management and Global Sport Management. He is also the co-author of the books Sport Consumer Behavior: Marketing Strategies (Funk, Alexandris and McDonald, 2016 by Routledge) and Performance Measurement and Leisure Management (by Routledge).
